The position requires a strong understanding of rigging practices, lifting equipment, load handling, and site safety requirements. The Rigger will work closely with Crane Operators, Lifting Supervisors, HSE personnel, and construction teams to ensure that lifting operations are properly planned, prepared, coordinated, and executed in accordance with approved lifting plans, project procedures, and applicable safety standards. Key Responsibilities Inspect, select, and prepare appropriate lifting and rigging equipment , including slings, shackles, chains, wire ropes, spreader beams, hooks, and other lifting accessories. Conduct pre-use inspections of all rigging and lifting equipment and ensure that damaged, defective, or uncertified equipment is immediately removed from service. Participate in lifting operations in accordance with approved lifting plans, method statements, and risk assessments . Ensure that loads are properly rigged and that the center of gravity, load weight, lifting capacity, and configuration are properly considered. Provide clear and standardized hand signals or use approved radio communication with crane operators during lifting operations. Read and understand lifting plans, rigging arrangements, load charts, equipment capacities, and lifting instructions . Verify the suitability and capacity of lifting accessories for the intended load and lifting configuration. Establish and maintain safe exclusion zones around lifting operations and prevent unauthorized personnel from entering restricted areas. Maintain awareness of working radius, lifting capacity, load swing, overhead obstructions, power lines, and other site hazards . Stop or suspend lifting activities if unsafe conditions, defective equipment, or deviations from the approved lifting plan are identified. Ensure compliance with project HSE procedures, lifting and rigging standards, and applicable regulatory requirements . Participate in toolbox talks, pre-lift meetings, and other safety briefings related to lifting and rigging activities. Report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, incidents, and near misses to the Lifting Supervisor/HSE team. Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills 7–15 years of relevant experience in rigging, lifting operations, heavy equipment handling, and construction/project environments. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline . Strong practical knowledge of lifting and rigging equipment and safe load-handling practices. Ability to understand and follow lifting plans, method statements, risk assessments, and rigging arrangements . Good knowledge of crane hand signals and radio communication procedures. Ability to assess load stability, rigging configurations, lifting accessories, and working conditions before and during lifting operations. Previous experience working on large-scale construction, infrastructure, industrial, or similar projects is preferred. Knowledge of applicable lifting and rigging safety requirements and project HSE procedures. Relevant rigging/lifting certification or competency certification will be considered an advantage.
