We are a developer, investor, and operator of power generation and desalinated water plants, with 90 assets in operation, construction, or advanced development across 13 countries. 1. JOB DETAILS: Position: Environmental and Social Manager Division: Department: HSSE Direct Supervisor:  Regional Head Social 2. JOB PURPOSE: To ensure the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) is developed and implemented during the project construction and operations phases along with adherence to improve wellbeing of local communities with respect to comply in accordance with local and lenders requirements. Coordinate the roll-out of the project based ESMS, the development of appropriate monitoring tools & methods and the respective reporting systems. Follow-up and continuously improve the internal processes and systems and assist in building the necessary organizational conditions and capacities. 3. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Environmental and Social Compliance: Ensure full compliance of the project with national environmental and social regulations, IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and ACWA Power’s internal ESG policies. ESIA Oversight: Coordinate the preparation, review, and submission of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), including stakeholder consultations and public disclosure in accordance with lender and government requirements. Management Plans Implementation: Lead the development and implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), including Construction Environmental and Social Management Plans (CESMPs), Waste Management Plans, and Biodiversity Action Plans (BAPs). Monitoring & Reporting: Design and execute E&S monitoring programs (air, noise, waste, water, biodiversity, etc.); compile internal and external reports to ACWA Power, government authorities, and lenders. Lender Engagement: Serve as the focal point for communication with International Financial Institutions (IFIs), including coordination of E&S audits, site visits, and responses to non-compliance findings or corrective actions. Contractor Supervision: Monitor and evaluate contractor and subcontractor compliance with E&S obligations; review and approve contractor CESMPs and associated procedures. Grievance and Stakeholder Management: Oversee the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) for affected communities and workers; ensure timely resolution of complaints and transparent communication with stakeholders. Capacity Building: Conduct E&S training and awareness programs for contractors, community liaison officers, and internal staff to ensure understanding of site-specific environmental and social requirements. E&S Risk Management: Identify and evaluate project-specific E&S risks and propose mitigation measures throughout the lifecycle of the project (development, construction, and operations). Internal Coordination: Work closely with HSE, Construction, Legal, Permitting, and Community Relations teams to integrate E&S risk management into all project processes and decision-making. Document Management: Maintain an organized and auditable E&S document management system, including permits, monitoring results, training records, and stakeholder engagement logs. 4 . REPORTING AND DOCUMENT FLOW Internal: Good in English language Internal and External Parties Exposure MS Office External: Good exposure with local statutory bodies and international standards related to environmental protection and pollution prevention. 5. GENERAL JOB DUTIES Regulatory Compliance & Permitting Coordinate with local regulatory authorities during site visits, alongside the HSE team, to ensure environmental clearance and permit approvals are obtained and maintained. Ensure all site teams implement and comply with conditions specified in environmental permits and local/federal E&S regulations. Remain up-to-date with Uzbek and international environmental and social legislation and ensure project compliance with applicable legal and lender (e.g. IFC) requirements. ESMS Implementation & Monitoring Ensure effective implementation of the Project Company’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), including Construction (CESMP) and Operational (OESMP) plans. Conduct regular site inspections and compliance checks to verify implementation of the ESMS and other related procedures/manuals. Support third-party environmental and social audits, including documentation, field support, and closure of findings. E&S Risk and Impact Management Establish, implement, and maintain a project-specific Environmental & Social Risk Register and Aspect & Impact Register using a risk-based approach. Identify requirements outlined in ESIA, ESAP, RAP, and SEP, and follow up with the project management team to ensure timely and complete implementation. Assist project sites in investigating E&S incidents, ensure corrective actions are developed and implemented, and maintain records of status and closure. Performance Management & Reporting Set E&S objectives, targets, and programs based on significant aspects and risks, in compliance with legal and lender standards. Maintain records of key performance indicators (KPIs), including waste management, discharges, spills, air and stack emissions, ambient noise, audits, and non-conformance reports. Prepare and submit monthly environmental and social performance progress reports to regional and corporate HSE/ESG teams. Interpret and consolidate environmental and social monitoring data (including marine quality, emissions, and audit findings) into qualitative trend analyses and summary reports for internal use. Training, Awareness & Stakeholder Support Conduct E&S awareness and training sessions for site teams on ESMS implementation, environmental monitoring, and control procedures. Document E&S monitoring processes and develop user-friendly resources and guidelines for staff and contractors. Promote cross-project learning by sharing lessons learned and good practices internally. Provide environmental and social input and technical support to the Business Development team as needed. Waste & Pollution Control Oversee the implementation of waste management systems and pollution control measures at project sites. Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in compliance with national and corporate standards. Policies, Processes, Systems & Procedures Implement approved departmental policies, processes, manuals and procedures, and ensure employee adherence so that work is carried out to the required standards. Continuous Improvement Manage and motivate the team to ensure they contribute to, and participate in, the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes, and projects in line with the organisation’s standards. Related Assignments Perform other related duties or assignments as directed. 6. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Employees are obliged to independently improve their qualifications and knowledge in the field of: OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY (OHS). FIRE SAFETY (FS). Fulfills and comply with the requirements of HSE legislation, internal local acts (Policies, regulations, procedures, instructions, etc.) on HSE and FS of the Company. Identifies HSE and FS hazards and reduce/eliminate them to an acceptable risk level. Reports, investigates and promptly corrects hazardous HSE and FS related activities and conditions. Maintains HSE and FS goals and objectives for continuous improvement of the HSE Management System. Evaluates the effectiveness of the HSE Management System.
